I went to Dr. Karen Behling at Carrboro Pediatrics (they see adults also) to get a physical and bloodwork for my upcoming surgery with Dr. Fischer.  I had initially been nervous about how to go about disclosing to a new doctor, I pass about 95% of the time and having to bring it up scares the crap out of me.  I started by asking her if she had any experience working with transgender patients before, she said that she didn't but the entire clinic staff was knowledgeable about gender variance issues.  It went well from there, she was incredibly professional and supportive about the whole gig.  The lab tech didn't give me any flak about why I needed a pregnancy test for surgery, and called me sir the entire time.  Overall this was probably one of the most positive medical experiences I've ever had.  I don't know whether or not they're willing or able to prescribe T, but if you're in Triangle area and need a good PCP, I'd definitely check them out.
