Definitive track

You're in a record store, and you see a compilation of songs from the 1990's. Just for kicks, you flip it over: "they must have THAT song, right?" And of course, there it is; how could anyone possibly have made a 90's compilation without out?

What's the song?

If the decade were the 1950's, 60's, 70's, or 80's, what might your answer be?

1950s "Peggy Sue" Buddy Holly
1960s "My Girl" The Temptations
1970s "Stairway to Heaven" Led Zepplin
1980s "Material Girl" Madonna
1990s "Closing Time" Semisonic. Of course, the song I probably heard the most in the 1990s was "My Heart Will Go On" and while it would define the decade pretty well, I'd rather we just all forget it ever existed.

Funny story: I had been naming these mixes after time of day (the 1960's were "Let the Sunshine In", eighties are "New Dawn Fades", 2000's were "Nightwish"), and the 90's disk is named "Closing Time".

You're probably right about Material Girl. I was going to use Holiday because it has the same bassline as Never Gonna Give You Up, but I may have to bow to historical value.

Funny, For me the most memorable sound from all of those decades was your mom moaning in the back-seat of my time machine.

I mean... nothing.

You invented a time machine and didn't tell me?! I'm unspeakably hurt.

My mom is born in 1958. You screwed my one year old mom?!

Why, Miss Georgia Peaches. You are no longer invited to my yearly garden party.
