That is a beautiful poem. I've never heard it before and I'm glad you posted it.

This past year HAS been a whirlwind for you and I'm impressed with the way you handled all of it. I'm glad you are happy with the outcome. :-)

As to the friendship-breakdown questions, I think that doesn't always mean the friendship is over if you run out of things to say. There are times when every friendship goes through quietness but it can ebb and flow just like the cycle of the moon. A good question I ask myself when this happens is WHY it seems to be breaking down. If you know the reason, you can look to see if it is something worth working on. If you don't know the reason, then it's likely its coming from the other person and it might help to ask them.

I think its almost always possible to find other commong ground if you want to continue a friendship but have lost the original common ties that brought it about.

Thanks for the poem. It kind of fits in where I am at now. I didn't realize until recently how my thoughts and feelings have kept negativity around. Such a simple concept, don't know why I didn't get it before. LOL
