In the wake of the worries

Since everyone seems to be worried about the changes going on at LJ,and especially since there seems to be an undercurrent of nervousness in fandom, I went ahead and started a NCIS Nostalgia community at InsaneJournal. They laid off a bunch of people and now everyone thinks the sky is falling.

Got it. I'm sorry for the people who lost their jobs, but there's more to LJ than their employees, IMO.

I agree. And honestly if you look at the history of LJ, it turned its best profit back when Brad was running it and it only had a few employees. After SixApart bought it, they had no idea what to do with it, so they threw employees at it and effed it up. The smartest thing our new Russian overlords could do, IMO, would be to dump the extraneous personnel and go back to the barebones type thing it was running before.

More bells and whistles don't necessarily improve a product, and most people liked LJ the way it was BEFORE people started screwing around with it.

Now, mind you, the sky very well may be falling, and one can't be too safe, so I've backed up everything to IJ (and created a couple comms over there for people to go to) just in case. But even if it DOES happen, I don't think it'll be soon.

On an unrelated note, I have chicken pot pie. Don't be jealous. ;)
