You were asking for flippant topics to research - here's a couple I thought of last night in between dreams about packing:
1) Placebo surgery, and why we let surgeons get away with standards of empirical proof that would appear prima facie to be lower than those used by homeopaths
2) Why the placebo trial (double blind) has become cultural standard for all sorts of things, including motor vehicle testing (taka a look at fuelefficiency.info or something like that, run by a bosch engineer)
2b) placebo trials of things where immune system should have little effect, eg: hair lice treatments.
I'm just curous about these areas, as I'm fascinated by placebo effects generally. All sorts of questions available.
Fair enough, although my family is incredibly relaxed (last year my stepdad fell asleep, slept through lunch, and when he woke up he was amazed that no-one was angry with him!). I wanted to talk, but I think I wouldn't have been very coherent - I was so tired that even after a nap during lunch, I slept deeply for another fourteen hours last night! And I didn't want to call in the morning in case I made you late for the plane. So, email for the win
