Was walking dog. Smelt smoke. "Hrmm..." thought I, "Is that from the bushfires?"

Apparently not. Since the temperature has fallen a bit, somebody decided it was obviously time to have an open fire indoors

i know nothing about the situation of the people you saw with an indoor fire, but we've been told off by ppl in the street for having an indoor fire; what they don't realise is that we need the fire in order to have any hot water (we have fire-heated water, not electrically-heated water), and our fires are as safe as can be, completely enclosed in a tank and only just big enough to heat the water. but ppl just see smoke coming out of the chimney and assume the worst...
