I was having a conversation with my good friend and political debatee today. The topic was about this new brand of "default Raleigh kid." Personally, I believe there's a big question about courage in this day and age as a lot of people are forgetting what it means to say what they really want ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, society has this notion of what is 'acceptable' ingrained within them almost from birth. I remember as a child my parents talking badly about certain relatives yet being overly friendly to them in person. Why not just come out and tell them how they felt about certain subjects and be done with it? Because they were afraid of what the other person would think. They were afraid of what the rest of their family would think. It's easier to say nothing at all.

Everything seems to be about sacrifice to an extreme level so the inconvenience of others will not take place. People who take what they want with no remorse are seen as dicks. But they aren't concerned with your opinion, or anyone else's for that matter, they have their own agenda of self satisfaction. Unfortunately no one associates with these people because they are the hardest to trust. People are shy. People are children. Children are afraid and seek stability the most.

I think only the insane one's are out for self-satisfaction. I agree the insecurely arrogant are definitly untrustworthy, but I do believe there are some people with true courage, charisma, and confidence. I also believe that courage has become the biggest taboo and for some reason the thing most of the Raleigh Kids fear the most. Why should we be compared to children? My parents raised me to think for myself and to have strength in my convictions. Perhaps it's the generation of kids raised with child-proofed houses that weren't raised strong who need to have their hands held, and I'm not saying that with a bit of malice. It's what I'm talking about actually. My message is about self-reliance. My message is about people sucking it up, and living for themself in a way that can also amplify the quality of everyone else's life around them ( ... )
