Well, Saturday night she complained of severe stomach pain. We took her to our local hospital and they could not figure out what was wrong. This one doctor persisted, though, and they finally did an ultrasound of her liver and found this mass that was bleeding.
They airlifted her to Westchester Medical, did a procedure where they went through the artery in her leg and up into the mass to plug up two bleeding vessels. Then she stayed in ICU where we were playing "wait and see," though surgery to remove the mass along with half of her liver was still an option.
Wednesday morning she had another procedure to block a third bleeding vessel. That did the trick and she moved out of ICU Friday afternoon.
Her doctors expect her to be in the hospital for another week, and then stay home for another two. But it was scary for a while and we are so thrilled at her progress.
