Well, I took the good advice on my last post and called my insurer and let them know about the lack of care I received at the doctor's visit. They were interested but seemed to feel that the claim would most likely be paid unless it was for an extravagant amount. Oh well, at least they know ( Read more... )

One thing my family used to do that was a lot of fun was cheap gift swap. We'd all set a limit, usually $5-10 a gift and each bring 3 or 4 of them. We'd wrap all the presents and put them in a pile and sit in a circle around them. With a pair of dice in a pie tin, we'd go around and around - whoever rolled doubles would pick a wrapped present for their 'pile'. When all presents had been divvied up we'd unwrap them and giggle at the many amusing or silly things. Then a timer would be set for like 3 minutes and we'd go around rolling again - whoever rolled doubles could 'steal' whatever present they wanted. At the end everyone got to keep what they had in their pile.
It was silly but a lot of fun - people thought of clever things much sought over like Starbucks dollars, scratch-off lottery tickets, cheap DVDs, etc. :)

We didnt ever do the big giftgiving extravaganza thing and I'm very glad of it. Kudos to you guys for making the move! :)

This seems to be the trend this year. My four siblings and I are skipping the gift exchange this year as well.

aye! hear hear! I'd just settle with all the commercials being nuked... permanently...

Diana never got back to a proposition of a barter/art trade, but would you be able to use 2*120 prismacolor pencil tins?

Sometimes people get such a mild case of chicken pox that they're not really aware they've had it, yet it's enough for their immune system to flip the switch. I don't know if there's any way to tell other than by being exposed to it and seeing if you develop the symptoms. In your case, even if you already have the immunity, it would be safest to avoid it for the sake of your child.
