hey number one! finally had the time to really swing by your lj. i wish you luck with that contest by the way. and same here, got writer's block for my homework for my screenwriting class. we're learning to write scripts. the steps, what goes into it before you write the actual script. screenplay actually. like the kind for films and tv. i'm using an original story. gosh! it's hard. writing for stories for that class and plus trying to get ones to post on lj. don't think i'll ever post stuff from my screenwriting class. want to keep that secret! cause i'm paranoid that way. lol :p anyways, enough about that. hope you're having a great halloween! and talk more soon. happy writing.
opps! i meant i'm trying to work on fics to post on lj. not stuff from the class i mentioned. i've got ideas for some stxi fics. but it's hard right now since i've got alot of homework for school. it's about midterm time of the quarter. bummer! i would like to write action, dark, character studies, or maybe even a crossover or kirk/sulu since that pair is so underrepresented. but, too busy now! maybe after all my midterms are done so i don't have that and a five page pager for one of the classes hanging over my head...
sorry, it's late! there's stuff i keep forgetting to mention. argh! lol :p anyways... i have a question about affiliation. what does that mean in lj or fandom terms? how do they work? is it just simply posting a link to the other's site in the profile page and/or blog as advertisement/support? or have to support each other in some way more extensive than that? gosh, sounds like a stupid question! i asked one of the mods at kirk_mccoy a while back but i haven't gotten an answer yet... i'm interested in learning how they work to determine if i should feature something like that at my community. also, help with promoting my site and other sites...
Holy Monkeys Batman. NaNo and fanfic and st_santa and beagles! Thanks for the well wishes on the NaNo thing, I'm gonna need them (falling so far behind). Hope you had a great Halloween!
As far as affiliations. I can't speak from experience as I've never run a community but I think it's mostly a casual thing.
You send an e-mail to the mod/mods of a community asking if you can affiliate with them. If they reply back with "Yes" then you each post a link onto your user info pages.
It's mostly a way for readers/posters to find other communities they might be interested in. Some affiliated communities host joint events. Communities you're affiliated with would mostly likely be more open to you posting announcements on their comm.
As far as I know there isn't any other obligation to affiliation other than posting a link in the user info page.
My advice is go for it! Ask to affiliate with the other Fanfic comms, chances are they'd be really open to it! The more the merrier after all. ^__^
if i'm batman, i'm so changing my costume so that i'm not wearing my underwear on the outside thank you very much! lol :p and yes, wonder boy, monkeys are indeed holy! *talking out of my mind* lol :p
i had an alright halloween. worked on homework and watched alot of halloween specials. chat with pals a bit. got to have a twix bar. haven't had that in ages! i don't buy candy that often. only when i get it as gifts or for halloween... well, a nice treat. those dark chocolate m'm's were awesome. wonder if that's only for that holiday... anyways, sugar. yes! lol XD get distracted XD
thanks for answering my question! i'll have to look into that. gosh, now that we both have comms, it would be great to affiliate and do joint events if that's even possible! "i like this ship! it's exciting!" lmao XD
Exciting indeed! :D And when my comm is ready that would be awesome!
My halloween was not as busy as I thought it would be. I had a whole bowl of candy left over. *with much personal willpower I managed not to eat the entire thing myself XD* Hmmm, dark m'm's you say? I think I've seen them year round, but now I'll have to make a personal mission of finding out. ^_~
