Title: Getting Over It
Fandom/Pairing: Arashi/ShoJun
Rating: this is so safe if babies can read, they can read this.

Jun eyed Sho dubiously. He knew of Sho’s insane fear of heights-everyone knew, of course-and at times, he really wanted Sho to get over it but he didn’t want to force his friend to do it. As Jun watched him study the equipment that was supposed to suspend them high up in the air, Jun felt something nag him to help Sho conquer his fear.

“They’re safe,” Jun said as he walked up to Sho. The group’s rapper dropped the straps in his hand and looked up at Jun in surprise.

“Oh. Of course they are. They’re just…” Sho frowned and tried to find the right word. “…scary.”

Jun nodded understandingly or at least that’s what he hoped he looked like.

“Well, you have to get used to them. We’re going to use them soon.”

“Y-yeah,” Sho nodded a bit nerviously.

“Do you want to try them out?” It was a bit weird to ask that, since the five of them just finished testing them out. But Jun figures that the more time Sho spends on air, the more he’ll get used to it.

Jun doesn’t know why he was so surprised when Sho answered no.

--

He somehow managed to convince Sho to put those straps on yet again and the staff agreed to let them try those out once more. Sho was gripping the two long straps that suspended him tightly, and they weren’t even off the ground yet.

“Hey,” Jun called out to him. “You’ll be fine.”

Sho managed a weak nod.

A few minutes later, the contraption started to lift them up. Sho’s grip tightened even more and Jun kept an eye on him the whole time. They were suspended ten feet up, only a third of the actual height they’ll have to face during the actual concert. When they were settled into place, Jun smiled, enjoying the feel of being so high up. When he glanced at his companion though, Sho had his eyes closed.

“Sho-kun,” Sho opened one eye to peek at Jun. “It’s all right.”

“This is scary,” Sho breathed out. “I can’t believe you talked me into this.”

"Maybe if you don’t think of it, it will be less scary.” Jun advised.

“O-okay then,” Sho took a moment to close his eyes. Then he opened them again. “It’s no use, I’m still scared.”

“Well, think of something happy!”

“L-like what?”

“I don’t know, like being on the ground or something,”

“It’s not working, Matsujun!” Sho moaned.

“Are you sure you’re thinking hard enough?”

“I’m trying my best!”

“Go think of something happier then,” Jun told him. “Like eating ice cream, or a really pretty girl or something,”

Sho closed his eyes for the nth time and Jun watched as his expression slowly relaxed and his lips curved up to form a smile.

“I think it’s working,” Sho grinned, his voice a little excited. He slowly opened his eyes.

“I noticed,” Jun chuckled. “What did you think about?”

“It’s a secret.”

--

They were finally back on the ground and the three were waiting for them on the stage. Aiba asked Sho if he was still scared and Sho proudly answered “A little.” Sho and Jun exchanged smiles and were about to go back to rehearsals when Nino got beside Jun and asked, “You have to tell me what you told Sho-kun to get him on that thing willingly.”
