You fall.
You watch the world before you; fast, uncompromising and cruel. Oh so cruel. You know that this kind of pace doesn't match yours, but you stick to it anyway, because you couldn't imagine yourself doing anything else. You reached your limit catching up, and you pushed it. You fall.
It hurt, and you tell yourself that the pain is worth the lesson you learned. You nurse your wound, while the world goes on without you on your feet; it is still fast, uncompromising and cruel.
You learn.
Once is enough. You are slightly reserved now. You stay away from your limits and you sometimes feel caged, but the pain is more than enough reason to convince you to live with it. The universe you know accepts you back, as hesitant as you may be. Things are going well, you don't need to be someone more than yourself to be good. That is a lesson you learn, and soon, you live by.
You pull yourself back up again.
He comes by accident. You know him, but you've never seen him clearly to care. Though you're slowly adjusting to the world back again--still, you don't want to fall; you've already done that--he was breezing through it with much ease. You feel a pang of jealousy and you decide that you don't need him.
Though it turns out you do. You need him, much more than you let yourself believe.
You come to realize this as the world threatens to push and pull you yet again. You resist, and you get bruised and hurt even though you tried so hard not to end up this way. Then he comes. He gives you a smile and offers you his hand. You are blinded by him; he has a glow about him that attracts you and you figure you can't ignore it anymore. Taking his hand, he pulled you back on your feet.
You walk more confidently now, not caring for the world and its fast, uncompromising and cruel ways. All you focus on is you. How to want to improve; how to go over your limits; how to be more than you can be. He taught you that.
Because of him you are not afraid. If you fall, he'll be by your side, offering you his hand and his smile, and that is more than enough to make the fall worth it.
