Tegoshi's mother once told him that with a voice like his, his future was secure. Being a child who was too naive to believe anything else, Tegoshi nodded happily. He had to work for his voice to secure his future, he knew that much. But he believed that everything will go smoothly. And so far he was right.

He didn't tell anyone but he was actually scared. Everything was just too good to be even half as true. Tegoshi Yuya was afraid that one day, his luck would run out. Where would that leave him? Back to square one, and if his luck didn't completely abandon him, he might get there in one piece.

It was something he didn't want to think about but the thought would sneak in during random moments. During rehearsal, while recording a song, or even during a conversation with a friend. It just won't go away.

"Hey, can you pass me that pencil?"

Tegoshi looked up, shaking away that same nagging thought to see Massu looking at him expectedly.

"W-what?"

"The pencil. I asked you to pass it to me,"

At this, Tego obeyed and handed the nearby pencil to his companion. He watched as Massu opened a crossword puzzle book and started scribbling down answers. Just then, the thought came back, more nagging and persistent this time.

"I'll be old someday," Tego announced, unable to fight the urge. He inwardly slapped himself.

"That's a fact of life, yes." Massu shot him a weird look but continued answeting his puzzle. This felt weird to both of them since Massu was usually the one saying these random things and Tego was the one half-paying attention to them.

"And my voice will change,"

"That's a given." Massu smiled kindly, as if trying to assert Tego and at the same time tell him he's being kind of stupid.

"It won't be as good as it is now,"

"Yes, that can be assumed." There was a gleam in Massu's eyes as he brightened up before excitedly writing on the puzzle before him.

"What would happen to us then?"

"Well, I'd support you, of course." Tego's worried look met Massu's matte-of-factly one. "That's what duos do, right? They help each other out.

That was apparently the only thing needed for that horrible thought to be pushed away in a far, far, far place in Tego's mind. That was also apparently one of the things that put a smile on Tego's face--a really bright one
