Day 4 - On Which Matt & Rach Get Very Wet
Summary: Hurricane Harbor water park.
Itinerary said: Hurricane Harbor - Soak rach’s corpse splash matt. A lot.
Stay at AAE Econo Hotel, LAX - cuddle rach Kick Matt. A lot.
Bit of a lie in today, by which I mean we didn’t get up till 8am! We’d decided that we didn’t want to walk back to the park in the daytime heat - by 9am it was already boiling - so we caught two buses instead. Got transfer tickets on the first, so it only cost us a dollar each. All public transport here seems ridiculously cheap - not sure why the guidebook told us we needed a car to do LA.
Got to the waterpark early, but a crowd was already gathering. Once we were let in, we managed to do a couple of rides without queuing for hours, but the queues still built up and we had to wait in line for everything else. We got an early lunch to avoid paying for that, more fried food, yay.
The wave pool and river were both really good (though packed out) and the rides were fun too, but probably not worth the time spent queuing for them. Was really hot though, so nice to be splashing around in water. Both got a bit sunburnt, oops!
Just before we left, we got a funnel cake, which is basically a large mess of donut batter, deep fried then topped with strawberries and cream. Very tasty, and massively unhealthy to counter all the walking we’ve done so far!
We did the 4-bus trip back to Inglewood and got back to the motel at about 7.30. Watched part of Ghost Whisperer, then had very early night as tomorrow, we drive north!
