Lord, yes. It's like... now we've created this culture in which anyone or anything (theoretically) can be seen in full lifelike color on screens throughout the world! That has a tremendous amount of power, just because (again theoretically) there's such potential to show people what different countries and lives and experiences are like. It feels like TV could be the ultimate tool of democracy - to get millions of people to realize that we all have different lives and do different things with them, but there's so much similar experience, too.

But what do we do with it? Sell the idea that since you can see these visions of plastic-perfect celebrity people on TV, it must look good and be good for everyone! It's disgusting, really. It makes me truly sad and scared.

Frankly, I prefer the faces around me to reflect the lives they've lived. They're more interesting that way and, thus, more beautiful to me.

I think I'm from Mars, sometimes. I just don't seem to fit with a lot of the Earth-based ideals lately. Are you from Mars, too?
