What are you growing around the house now?

Nothing new, yet. But most of what's there now probably won't survive in the winter. If someone gets themselves kidnapped, we shouldn't be limiting our resources.

Good point. A steady source of dittany is handy to have around. [An really, having some devil's snare is a nice precaution, but he won't mention that.]

[Oh, that was going to get a little pot in his bedroom regardless of the weather.]

You've been here longer than I have, Harry. How cold does it get in the winter? [He half-knows the answer is, but it's always better to get a second opinion to confirm suspicions.]

It was February when I arrived, and it was cold enough then for the lakes to have frozen over. I'd reckon that it's a bit colder than that in the earlier months.

Frozen? Aww...

[That could...be a problem]

...ya said ya keep plants?

I'm looking into a way to keep them all from dying off in the winter, yes.

You're a gardener too?

It's something of a hobby of mine. [You know, the kind of obsessive hobby that's Better Than Air.]

I was thinking about that too. And yeah, we're going to need a greenhouse before too long for the stuff that keeps living over winter. I know there was snow when I got here in January.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. Has nobody thought to build one before now?

Don't think folks had much of a need until recently, really. After all, there's plenty of food in the shops usually, and not a whole lot of folks seem interested in decorative plants from what I've seen. And the wildlife sure doesn't need the help.

I suppose... But there are so many other things you can do with plants -- with a proper set of herbs alone! Are people just not in the habit o growing useful things?

Spell? [Ping! ... wait, cold. Ahhh.]

Well, my friends and I could probably add some warming charms to a room in the house, but it would be terribly uneven and could do more harm than good, I think. I'd been thinking the magic from another world might be able to help more.

I know somebody that does magic that could probably help, but, uhm, she's kind of not doing it anymore.

Maybe you should just make a greenhouse?

Voluntarily, you mean? [What. Why?]

That seems like it might be the best way to go about things... It's just the matter of how that still needs to be worked out.
