Ficlet

And So We Fade - 4800 words, Merlin/Arthur, PG-13, flangst, future fic, minor character death, incomprehensible physics, and the coin thing is shamelessly stolen from T.H. White (with my deepest apologies) - the servants tended to look away when it came to Arthur and his sorcerer (to Merlin and his king)

“Where,” said Arthur in what he considered to be a very rational tone given the circumstances, “are my chambers?” )

fic, merlin, merlin/arthur

This was gorgeous. So beautiful and heartbreaking. I could really feel Arthur's pain at the thought that he was losing Merlin bit by bit. Well done.

Ow, my heart hurts *sniff, sniff*....does Fandom need a hug?

I think fandom needs about a year's supply worth of hugs :) (or at least I do!)

Thanks for reading!

oh this was just wonderful- the richness of the language you use and the way merlin's shifts in conversation give the sense of being there and not there at the same time really contribute to creating a mood all through the fic. Arthur's sadness at being left behind one day really comes through and pervades the dialouge, i have to say this fic made me pretty weepy *sniffle*

Thank you! It's probably terrible of me to love making people get weepy, but I do! I'm so glad it worked for you and I love the way you described it, Merlin 'being there and not there at the same time' -- just, yes.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

It's so sad. I like how it's still humorous sometimes. But it's so sad.

It's funny that you mention that (and I'm glad you found it a bit humorous!), because when I started writing this, I was really thinking that it would just be a lighthearted snippet but then it just got sad. I honestly never saw it coming!

Thanks for reading!

If there was a way to frame this like a painting, I would totally do it. This was gorgeous!
