So...

...I am seriously considering dropping Spanish.

Reasons I might drop Spanish:

--I'm really not enjoying the class. It's the one class I regularly wish I didn't have to go to, the one class I *never* feel like doing homework for. It just doesn't interest me anymore.
--As a result of my complete lack of interest, I'm not likely to do well in the class. I don't think I'll fail, but I won't pass with flying colours either, and I *do* need a 3.0 to get into the program I want next year.
--I don't *need* the class for anything. Given my lack of interest in it, any thought of pursuing Spanish as a minor has evaporated. And it seems kind of pointless to continue with a class I don't like when I don't even need the credit.

Neutral factors:

--Dropping the class at this point would carry no academic penalty; the deadline for removal from academic record and GPA is February 16.
--I only need 4.0 college credits to get into my program next year, and I'll still have plenty if I drop Spanish, because I have college credits from AP courses. (Actually, come to think of it, I should talk to someone and make sure AP credits count for this purpose. But if they don't, then what on earth is the point of awarding credit for them at all?)

Factors making me hesitate:
--I'm not actually going to fail the class. I've never heard of anyone dropping a class this late in the game just because they weren't interested; most people push through unless they're actually failing.
--There are a few cool people in the class with whom I converse at times, and while *I* don't particularly care if our acquaintance ends here, it might seem rude to ditch.
--It seems sort of ridiculous and incompetent to decide this late in the year that I don't want to be in the class after all. Really, I couldn't have figured this out before February?
--Basically a combination of the above two things: I'll look like kind of a douche. How much does it matter, given that if I *did* drop, I would never see these people again? That's what I'm trying to decide.

In the event that I do decide to drop, I have three options for how to handle it:
--Just click "drop course" on ROSI (the course-registration website) and fall off the face of the earth. (Easy, but very douche-y.)
--Go to a final class, make up a legitimate reason for dropping, give it to everyone graciously with a "thank you for your time" etc., *then* fall off the face of the earth. (Slightly less douche-y.)
--Go to a final class, politely tell everyone the truth with a "thank you for your time" etc, *then* fall off the face of the earth. (Brave, honest, mature, and difficult because it means actually verbally *admitting* my douche-iness.)

...Thoughts? Anyone?
