I'm at work now, and I doubt anyone will come to this lab on Sunday anyways. But that gives me time to share my past weekend with ya'll :)
So yeah, Friday I got home from work and then went to Wigg's house and watched TV for a bit. We got a hold of Ed and he said he was gonna have a little poker tournament at his house, so I was like "YES!" because I love Texas Hold'em. There were 6 of us (me, Wigg, Ed, Nick, Jodie and Charlie) and it was $5 each. We played with stacks of generic chips from Walmart and first place would get all. We played for a quite a bit, and it was down to me, Wigg and Ed, with Wigg in a commanding lead. However, Wigg gambled by going All-in on a hand (betting everything) and he lost a very close 3 of a kind to Ed's 3 of a kind with a higher kicker :-/ So it was me and Ed left. I cut a deal with him, because we all had to get going pretty soon, and so he took $15, I doubled up with a 2nd place victory, and Wigg took his $5 back with 3rd. Then we played a couple games of Halo, which is always fun.
Saturday, I woke up early (10:30 lol) and got ready for my trip to Ridgway to visit Jolene and see Godspell. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from my house with road construction on I-80 and traffic near the fairgrounds off the exit. It was only 2 hours coming back straight to Westminster. I followed the directions and they got me there, even though a few landmarks she put out of order, and most weren't necessary, and just confusing :-p
I met her family briefly throughout the stay, since everyone was all over the place this weekend. When I got there, I was pretty tired, and so was Jolene, so we just lounged around watching Comedy Central like we do. Then, she had to make an appearance at a graduation party for 3 local kids, so we got some free food that wasn't too bad. There was also a festival in town, which looked really fun, and we watched a martial arts demonstration for a short time. After that, we went back to Jolene's so she could change and we could go see Godspell. I was wearing my Mohawk Godspell shirt, so I was ready :)
I have to say, I really liked this version of Godspell. There were not too many deviations from the script our high school used. The major difference was the pit orchestra. They were really really fantastic and I wish we would have had that element in our musical. It really adds an extra zing to the performance. I do think that our musical had a better vocal and dance cast overall, thought there were some really good voices I heard. It was fun to watch another guy do my part, the funny man, and I felt he did very well with the comedy. Another part that was different was the song "Beautiful City". I really like that song, and our director cut it out for some reason when we did the play. They actually built a "city" out of cardboard boxes painted with "love" and "peace" in tons of different languages. It was really neat and a good start to Act Two. The ending was slightly different too, but no biggie. I very much enjoyed their "Law and Order" version of the "Unfair Judge" story. Overall, I'd say the positive aspects of each version, ours and the Footlighters (the local theatre crew) evened out and both were very cool. I have to say Godspell was the funnest musical I have been in and I can tell their cast was having a blast! Oh yeah, the lighting was very good too ;-) (Jolene did the lighting, a big reason we went to this show, hehe)
After Godspell, we went to the cast party at the back of this bar, where there was tons of wings and fried food. We didn't stay very long, and Jolene's ex-boyfriend was there *gasp* lol, but we went back to her house to stay up late watching tv. We skipped church in the morning, so I wouldn't be completely dead today for "work". I got back here ok, and I have to say, Ridgway was a nice little town. I had a good time, but I'd like to spend more time meeting her family, it was just too weird, with everyone going everywhere throughout the weekend. So yeah, now back here, being bored as usual :-)
Til next time,
Neb
