Personal Note: I will have my vengeance!

I emerged from another writing fit this evening to notice that:

a) the ants are back; and

b) they brought a friend, probably named Mickey.
Whence follows the ritual scrubbing of the countertops, the liberal application of Ant-B-Gone, and the baiting of the mousetrap with peanut butter.

Ye gods, I hope those were just really large, really odd ( Read more... )

EWWWWWW, MICE.

I sympathize and empathize, both.

I have not had my normal summer invasion of sugar ants, but it's been a very mild summer. Maybe they're still dormant? And with all the momma cats around, I haven't seen a mouse in my house this summer, either.

We won't talk about the other creepy crawlies I've seen. Bleah.

Eek, no. I don't even want to think about the eldritch horrors in the attic of my last apartment ...

I think we must have your ants, though. My friends with the house on the slab are living the Antpocalypse this summer, to the point where even the exterminators are suggesting exorcism. Whatever the last bunch used to briefly suppress the problem gave way to the rebound from hell. My friends are currently on vacation at the beach. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

Ugh, and ugh, and ugh.

Exorcism of ants...I wonder what deity one would invoke for such a thing. Hmmmmmm.

Well, the original Myrmidon was a son of Zeus (who seduced his mother in the form of an ant. Rule 34 goes back a looong way.). In my own tradition, St. Dominic of Silos appears to be invoked against insects and mad dogs, which covers a pair of useful bases ...

Augh, my last apartment was absolutely infested with mice by the end, I could NOT get rid of them! Deter them nice and early with peppermint extract! Wipe it on the surfaces you suspect they are frequenting, and the baseboards and edges of the floor (as an exterminator advised me). BOO ANTS also.

Thanks. Critter subtenants are the very devil. Fortunately I haven't had a recurrence of signs of mouse, but the ants are, if reduced in forces, still present. Grr.
