The PC and the iPod are not comparable. The PC and the Mac are. When you buy a Mac you get a lot of Apple products for free, iTunes included. However Apple makes both the computer and the software. Macs come with word processors, browers, etc etc ( ... )

Just a quick mention of something you're apparently not aware of: Apple did get sued for monopolizing their distribution channel or whatever. I think they lost and are appealing but don't hold me to that cuz' I can't remember; I lost track of it, cuz' I hate Apple-related stuff anyways and didn't care. I think it was just France, and other EU countries were considering similar moves based on how the French case turned out. A simple google-search will get you specifics, I'm sure, if you're interested ( ... )

I was posting about 2 monopolies. The fact that one is an OS and the other a media player are irrelevant. The correlations in them being monopolies are there.

If I was microsoft I would pull out of the EU. I would madify all my agreements to pc builders not to sell machines with my products on the m to the EU and I would trace all ip's looking for updates form EU countries and watch them squirm when they have no access to my product. Then watch the ruling change over night.

Open source is fine. I don't have a problem with it at all and I agree it can lead to faster developments. But it is the companies choice to release it. This government mandate bothers me greatly. I'll never be able to change Europe. I can't affect this case but I can and will continue to express what I feel about it and situations like it.

As far as the security concerns are concerned..... (yeah that works) Media Player can be uninstalled.
