Lately I've noticed that some reporters have a strange tendency to want to stand and do their live-on-the-spot shots under potentially dangerous conditions (i.e. in the MIDDLE OF A HURRICANE). Folks, it's been done. I think the general public has a pretty good idea of how windy it might be without you having to put yourselves in danger. I

For them, it's all about exposure in a competitive field, as well as "reporting the news from where it happens". So they'll take arguably stupid risks to get head and shoulders above the rest and perhaps to get "remembered" (Peter Jennings, Geraldo, war reporters etc have all done this kind of thing in the past).

Taking risks is on par with the job.
