Whoa! This looks completely professional, just like a comic book page. You rock. No wonder people are asking you for your portfolio. You are really talented.

Let me ask you a question: I looked at your lineart and then the colored version. Do you think that a separate colorist would have been able to capture you intentions and produce the picture the way you envisioned it? I usually see people's lineart on LJ and like the lines more than how it looks after they color it. But this picture looks more impressive after the color. Maybe it's because the way you have the lineart scanned doesn't allow the viewer to really get a great feel for the lines? Did you draw the lineart by hand or did you draw it into the computer?

Ahah, first off, I want to thank you for the praise, because, woah, that's such a nice thing to say. *blush* This *IS* one of the pieces I painted especially for the Portfolio, and it was the one that attracted more attention, too. I was so happeeeehh... ♥

This is a truly interesting question. It's going to be hard to answer, but let's try. =)
Most of my drawings (and I feel I can say most of everyone else's) are usually very detailed and feel "finished" even if it's just pencilwork. Colouring, usually, takes away some of the... "freshness". The energy. It adda more detail, more sharpness, focus, cleannness. It also permeates the painting with a peculiar mood, but nothing is ever as impressive and right-to-the-point as a raw sketch.
The reason why I love watercolours above all other media is because they manage to add to the sketches/lineart/pencilwork, without taking away any of the original charm.I usually like both sketches and coloured version; what I usually don't like is the clean inks. I'm not even sure why---and I'm not ( ... )

Exactly. I think with most of the artists on the project, the colorist is going to improve the final artwork. But I don't think a colorist would have been able to improve this, or even get to this point from the pencils. So now I'm worried that imposing a colorist on you is going to actually detract from your work. Not that I would know the difference but you may obviously be one of the artists that is as good at pencils as she is with the coloring. In that case...well, I would have to change my plans. LOL

*LOL* Honestly? My color theory is pretty solid, but I enjoy playing alchemist waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much; so a professional colourist can only make my artwork better, rather than worse ( ... )
