strengths and weaknesses

3.6 million people currently live with aids in Nigeria.
68% of the population is literate.

The country is ruled by a republic. Within the republic there is a executive, legislative, and judicial branch just like the American government.

Britain came to imperialize Nigeria when they stayed there to dominate the palm-oil business that they would develop. They stayed though in order to make sure slave trade was not going on in Nigeria after they banned it. They took over the land by fighting tribe against tribe and then forcing the remainder of both to work on the plantations.

Britain came to Nigeria for slave trade in the 1500's. Although Africa was not a big base for slave trade, by the 1600's 12 million of the worlds 18 million slaves were taken form Africa. They didn't have any influence on Nigerian life until the 1800's. This was the time they found out how much palm-oil could be produced from the area.
