That's wonderful. :) I used to have a poster of 3 endangered species on my door as a little girl--it seems that almost all my life eagles have been endangered, so this is surreal.
A tree next to our house on Mercer Island, and a tree across from our house on Bainbridge Island have both seen aeries (eagle's nests) over the past 5 years. We've found an eagle feather or two in our backyard, though we're not allowed to keep them by law. We have to call someone to come and take the feathers away, isn't that crazy? If it's helped an endangered species though, it's worth it.
The Woodland Park Zoo takes in injuried bald eagles to help them and then sets them back free if it's possible. Some of the birds are permenantly hurt, though, and stay at the zoo. I find it amazing to sit face-to-face with one through the glass... the golden gaze of an eagle is the most intimidating thing you'll ever see in your life.
