So Sam's phone was ringing.

Balancing the flowers and the basket on his lap (thank goodness for big counter tops), Sam pulled his phone out and put it to his ear.

"Hello?" he asked, trying to shove some flowers together.

"Bom dia." That was the first clue as to who this was. Did he know anyone else who spoke Portuguese? "Happy Thanksgiving. Or is it too early to say that?"

"About a day early but it's all right," he replied. "We're getting ready for it so it's close enough. Happy Thanksgiving back."
