Yes, these things just sort of come and go. But you get used to them after a while-

well, as used to curses as one could get anyway.

But... what if something happened while you're under a curse? That would be... messy, right?

It is, a little. But after awhile people start to realise that anything odd that happens is due to a curse. After all, people really aren't themselves when something strange decides to happen, so they really can't be blamed for the consequences.
