There's another key factor that links all these things together which is actually what enables the fear campaigns to thrive... And that is, all of these things are "unknown". We don't know when or where a terrorist is going to kill us. We (the public) DON'T have a good grasp on the flu deal because it's so new. Cancer? We know all about that. Even AIDs these days is well-known enough where it's not feared.
The more information is disseminated through the media, the less people become fearful, IF the information given is fair and balanced, not the shit that's spewed nightly.
