How's My Metal Gear Driving?

Snake needs to be criticized on a constant basis, so let me know how I'm doing :3 I suppose I'll be doing all of that IP logging off and anon posting allowed and blah blah blah blah...and screening and the like.

Looking at your dear_mun thread, I see some problems in the voice. Snake may enjoy looking at underage girls, but he's got a much more sophisticated way of saying it. Words like 'jugs', 'rack', 'cuz' and the valley girl colloquialism 'like' do not belong in his vocabulary. 'Bitch' is arguable, 'dunno' would have been better as 'don't know'. I would suggest reviewing MGS1 and MGS2 for a better idea of how Snake speaks overall.

Yea, to be honest I've had trouble with Snake's voice the whole time I've been playing him. However in that Dear_Mun post I was mostly just acting silly with him...that isn't anywhere near how I usually make him speak in the game I have him in.

Thank you for the crit! I'm still trying to improve with him, and all the crit I get is helpful.

Ah, alright. Thanks for being so receptive!

I might look through your posts later to see if there's anything else I can suggest, but there's one thing I already see just from looking at some of the recent ones. If you read through the game scripts, you'll notice that Snake never calls girls 'kid'. No matter how rookie-like or annoying Meryl and Emma seem to get at times, that's just not something he ever says.

Yea, I'm never one to get whiny about crit. I really enjoy getting it, to be honest.

But yea, Snake and Saber were my first characters going into the game I'm playing them in. Up until then, I had only ever been in ONE AU game.

I think the biggest hurdle I have yet to cross is that I'm still so damned used to having to take liberties with most of who I play. Being used to doing that, (For example: Touhou Characters that there is barely any information on), I tend to meander a lot with the voices of characters who already do have a very set characterization.

It's really been a struggle for me, branching out to a new game...and I'm hoping by the fact that everyone who's given me crit has been very constructive with it...that it means I'm not irritating too many people with my struggle to stay IC with these voices.

And the crit really does help, a LOT. Maybe if I'm still RPing in about a year or so I'll finally be ready to take characters to even more games.
