in character information.

series: Assassin's Creed
name: Malik (Tazim) A-Sayf
sex: Male
age: 21
race: Human
height: In feet/inches, please. If you do not know, please give a headcanon guess. This information will be posted on the character's toe tag.
weight: 162
canon point: Before he meets the great Altair Ibn-La'Ahad for the first time, while he is still working for the ways of the Old Creed, and gathering followers against Abbas's uprising in Masyaf.
previous cr: Tazim will be carrying over his memories from counted_stars. Though he has not been there for very long, the place has had a profound effect on him. He is curious about everything, and eager to learn the technological advances of the time. His major CR is outlined below.

Malik A-Sayf; Tazim's father, Tazim is eager to get to know the man better, but has not told him of their true relationship. He still struggles to get his head around the fact that Malik is there and alive, but he is eager for it.

Catty Turner; Tazim also works for Catty part time as an errand boy for her tattoo shop. While he does not necessarily agree with tattoos, he can appreciate that times have changed, and so even though he turns his nose up at it it does not mean that others must as well. As for Catty herself, Tazim considers her a friend. He likes her, and think she is clever. In some ways he is still unsure of what to make of her, but for the most part he trusts her and will do anything to help her out.

Kairi; Though Tazim does not remember it, Tazim helped to save Kairi during a planet-wide series of riots. He thinks she is polite, and although he's still formulating an opinion about her she is kind and open enough that Tazim has begun to trust her.

Merlin; He encountered the other upon his very first day of arrival in Counted Stars, and while he thought the other's questions about magic were a little bit odd to him he found the boy's company pleasant enough to be around.

Tony Stark; Though he has not known Tony for very long to form a full opinion of him, he did agree to work for the other in exchange for a new and advanced Starkpad.

Kyp Durron; Tazim does not remember the exchange, however after witnessing the other murdering Sith in cold blood, Tazim spoke up- and Kyp erased his memories of the riots for it. If Tazim learns that his mind has been tampered with he will no doubt be very angry.

history: His really tiny wiki page.
When Malik was but a newborn, his father was murdered by one of Abbas's followers. Growing up without his father was hard for the young Malik, however he persevered. After his father's murder he and his mother were sent away, banished from Masyaf for his father's alleged 'treachery', despite that it was a false accusation. Years later, as a teenager he made the decision to return to the brotherhood- but took on the name Tazim. Just as the other's in the order, Tazim was taught the New Order of Assassin's, however Tazim did his own research, and kept his mind open. Ignoring Abbas's poisoning of the Order, Tazim chose to follow the 'Old' Order. Tazim helped to begin spreading unrest in the ranks of the Assassin's, and rebuilding a following for the true Master of Masyaf- Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. When rumours that Altaïr had returned to the Holy Land reached Malik, he was one of the first to begin spreading the truth of his return throughout the Order, so that when Altaïr at last chose to return to the Brotherhood, it would be to those still loyal to him. To the support of a following that Altaïr would need to set things right within the Brotherhood, and end Abbas's reign.

personality: Malik shares a great many traits with his father. He is, in many ways, a softer version of him. He uses quick witted sarcasm, but can also be very wise for his age. He is proud, and defines himself by the actions of his father, determined to carry out and uphold his memory in a respectful, honourable way. But he is not brash, and is careful to weigh the choices presented before him. Even when Abbas is trying to vindicate, and brainwash all of the Assassin recruits into following his decrees, Malik steps back, and considers not only what Abbas preaches, but also his own thoughts, his own opinions, and the ways of the Old Creed. In the end, his willingness to consider more than one out look defines his actions, and decisions, and he stands by them.

He is somewhat fearless as well, as even despite the fact that he knows Altaïr could easily kill him- he still volunteers to be the one to follow him when Altaïr at last returns to Masyaf. He will not back down from conflict, and will be the first to stand for what he believes in. So too is he sure of his skills, and somewhat cocky. Though he can also admit to when he is lacking in skills, he accepts crticism, and although he can come across as contrite he truly takes what is said to him in this manner to heart. He works hard to improve himself in all aspects of his life.

He possesses his father's determination, his spirit- such is said by Altaïr at their first meeting. Though he is not as acerbic as his father was, and is much more playful. He has a joking manner about him, but throws himself into serious situations without hesitation, and applies himself to them without making a game of it, or belittling it's severity. He can be just as disciplined and contemplative as he can be aloof and good-natured, though errs to the side of easy-going.

He takes his failings in stride, and resolves himself to improve when they are pointed out to him- but so can he be someone deflecting when they come up. An example of this is when Altaïr points out that his stealth is somewhat lacking, he deflects with a question as to why Altaïr would have allowed Tazim to kill him. Evasion is a tactic he will use often if there is something that he does not wish to discuss.

He is unapologetic for his nature, and loyal to a fault. Once he has placed his faith in something, he will stand for it no matter the cost.

Malik is not without his faults, however. He knows he has not had the same training that Assassins once had, and as such his fighting skills are not up to the par that they should be. He can be somewhat impulsive, and lacking in caution. He is also somewhat single minded. Once he begins to focus on one task little else will get through to him, and though he has an open mind, focusing on one task alone means that sometimes he misses what is right before him.
abilities/powers: Just as his father before him, Malik is an assassin. He started his training later than most, and this is somewhat reflective in his skills. Under Abbas, the assassin's did not teach combat strategies as they once had, however Malik went against the Master's wishes and honed his skills regardless. He is proficiant with a sword, and short blade, as well as having some skill with a hidden blade, though he still has much to learn.

He is also very stealthy, though a trained assassin will be able to detect his approach, the average person would not notice him sneaking up on them. Again, this is an area that Malik works to improve himself in.

first person sample:[ When the video flips on, the young Malik fixes it with a curious eye. To some, it is a feature that will be familiar; after all they are a trait that he shares with his father. In his hands he turns the datapad, turns it upside down, before flipping it over, pursing his lips a moment, before offering the device a wry smile. ] And I suppose you will be the one to tell me where I am? What I am doing here, and what has become of my belongings?

[ He shakes his head, because this thing cannot reply, and sets it down upon the floor, rolling instead to his feet as he moves to explore the rest of his room. ]

Surely I am dreaming... [ Though he has moved away from the datapad, he can still be heard talking to himself. ] Never have I had a dream so- solid. [ Unseen, he presses a hand against the button controlling the door mechanism, and when it opens with a 'woosh', he leaps back into the view of the datapad, visibly unsettled. He swore beneath his breath, before steeling himself, fingers instinctively flexing, a wish for his blade. ]

No, no dream... A cruel joke, perhaps. [ But his joking airs are fading fast, as a prickle of doubt spreads down his spine, and he cautiously approaches the open door once more. Do you wish to call him back? ]

third person sample: Malik was here. Malik A-Sayf. Was here. Was alive, was flesh and blood and not simply a story- a figment that lived on in his mother's memories, not just a legend that he'd heard-

but a man.

He could see it now, the similarities that had so often been spoken of to him by his mother. The hard lines of Malik's cheeks and the angles to his face that were reflective in his own, their eyes near-mirror images of one another. Standing side by side, their relation would have been obvious- especially young as the other was.

He could barely breath to believe it. Was shaken to his core.

His mind was a tempest, a dervish of thoughts and emotions, too much to bare all at once. The younger Malik was staggered, braced his hand against the wall, bowed his head, and exhaled slowly. No, he could not lose himself, could not bend and break to the emotion that assaulted him now. Closed his eyes, meditated on what he should do-

He could not, would not tell his father of his future. This, he had already decided. It was perhaps, not what the other would want, but... But how could he know? He did not know this man, not truly...

But his heart soared to know he had the opportunity to learn, regardless of whether or not his own relations to him should, and would be a well-kept secret.
