[This room had been left to the wayside, since their marriage had started to crumble around David's head.

He couldn't even pinpoint an exact time when that had started...

He had always liked it, though. When times were good, it had been cozy. A retreat from their duties, a place where they could simply be together for a little while.

He usually just gave it a glance as he passed, but today... Was there someone inside?

Stopping in the doorway, he watched as Athena looked around the room.]

[She had come across a photograph.

It was a surprise, for most framed pictures of them had been thrown across a room at some point and quite a lot of others had simply been burned.

She can't remember where this particular one had been taken, and she simply puts it back to its former place.

She has not realized that he is watching her.]

[They looked so happy there.

He had said he didn't care, and at the time it had been true. David was tired of fighting, and it never led anywhere but to more anger. And with everything going on, indifference had been so much easier.

But he had loved his wife, and that wasn't something you just erase.

He entered the room slowly, hand running over the back of the couch, as he remembered all the good times.]

[She turned around, maybe to leave or to look around the room some more. Whatever she had wanted to do, she stopped, startled. She had not heard him enter.]

David? [Her voice came out as a whisper, but she is actually surprised to get out a sound at all.]
