Yesterday was called by the new contract owner, they made me an offer? Not that they said what position, or what I would be doing, they were just calling to make me an offer for X amount (a few thousand under my current ridiculously underpaid for my role salary) plus a sign on bonus to make up the difference

Ya, insulting interviews for jobs you don't are definitely good practice for the interviews for the jobs you do want. ;-P

I think the problem is that for the most part, they dont really know who/what they need. Their ignorance makes it hard for them to understand that they are insulting people they should be courting.
Bigger win for another govie co. when they scoop you up!

I chalk those up as just practice to get me more comfortable with interviews. Frankly, you don't want to work anywhere where they don't like you for who you are, so my vote is to keep the purple hair and most especially your youth. :) You'll find the job that appreciates you for you and you'll be happier for it.

Of course, I work in Arlington so we could have had lunch and stuff together if you got the job! Though hopefully that won't be where I'm at for too much longer.

You have the luxury to hold out for what you want and need, so there's that!
