I've always had a bit of a kink for men crying, and of course this fandom is the best possible fandom for that. Them being real people kind of ruins sad crying for me, though, because watching real people getting their dreams crushed is just upsetting.

Everyone who doesn't live under a rock has already seen Stephane sobbing on the podium after winning silver in the 2006 Olympics and Stephane sobbing on his father's shoulder, right? Right. Moving on.

This is Daisuke crying after his silver-medal-winning free skate at the 2007 Worlds in Japan. (starts at 4:49) He was the first Japanese man to ever win a Worlds medal, and he did it in his home country. God, I love his skating so much.

Johnny crying after his 2005 Nationals LP. (starts at 5:33) Aww, Johnny. Even seeing him so happy makes me sad sometimes. Why couldn't his career end on a note like that instead? Fuck you, judges and USFSA.

Evan crying after his Olympic SP is one of my very favorite canon moments. I came out of BGJW hating his guts, and reading about some of the douchier statements he'd made certainly didn't help, and then he had the gall to go and win the Olympics, even though I didn't like him! I don't think that sort of thing should happen in sports. So when I was watching the Olympic footage a couple days after the fact, his flaily skating just annoyed the hell out of me. But when he was suddenly crying so hard with happiness, I just couldn't help being a little bit charmed.

So, you know, that's how my entire hate-love-amusement thing for him started. Link goes to mediafire, because I think they're still deleting all Olympic footage off youtube. It's a three-minute clip of Evan's reaction after the SP and in the kiss and cry, and as far as crying videos goes, it's kind of a goldmine, because they keep zooming in on his face. I'm sorry it's a wmv, but the entire Olympics file is too huge to upload and I have neither editing experience nor software, so I spent two hours crashing the Windows Movie Maker while trying clip the relevant scene instead.

Joubert crying on the podium after his 2007 Worlds win! (starts at 2:12, and then again at 4:49) Daisuke looks pretty close to tears again, too. That is the least sparkly, colourful figure skating podium I've ever seen, by the way. Far too much black.

After rewatching all those videos I am so fucking grateful for the German commentators, who actually mostly shut the fuck up and let you enjoy the programs. That American guy just babbles on and on and on.
