Are you guys all familiar with Dropbox? If you haven't heard of it before, it's a service that'll let you sync a folder on your computer to an online account, so you can have that folder on all your devices and also access it online. It has seriously made my life SO MUCH EASIER, so I thought I'd point it out

It seriously is the greatest. I'm so bad about backing up my stuff, and I own way too many computers that need to stay in synch, so it's just the thing I needed.

It's also really good for sharing small amounts of stuff (like, photos or songs), similar to Yousendit, but with an easier and faster interface.

I'm one of those people who make backups way too rarely.

"Fortunately", I hardly make any art anymore, so I wouldn't lose all that much.

The only reason I would oppose something like dropbox is security. But I'm paranoid about stuff like that, so. It does sound like a good idea for thesis-writing.

And you're an IT person, too! You should be even more ashamed of yourself than I am. ;) (I actually do have very careful backups right now, because I think my new SSD may already be failing - damn thing is really living up to its rep of being insanely fast and insanely unreliable - and I halfway expect my computer to spontaneously blow up at any second. But I expect I'll probably slip back into bad habits all too soon
