Definitely John!

Also, and please don't hurt me, but I could have sworn I've heard him call John just 'Reese', because I was like, oh, huh. Of course, I could have imagined it all.

If you notice him doing that again, I'd be curious when! I've been paying some attention, and I haven't noticed anything but "Mr. Reese" and the rare "John" so far, but I do get caught up in episodes and forget to pay attention. But Finch's also pretty reliable about referring to Carter as "Detective Carter" all the time - he does like his titles. ;)

OH hey, did you notice he recently called her Joss? (I'm a couple eps behind by now, so it was prob a while ago. I was like, 'did he really just say that?'

He called her Joss when he was calling her after Stanton wrecked their car. I thought that was great, because it totally showed how concerned he was.

Oh God, if people are gonna pull out the euphemisms in this fandom, you'd think they could at least go with "the man in a suit". ;)

Definitely John. I think the only reason he used "Mr Reese" at first was to put some emotional space between them, and later on he used it because he'd always used it. In my opinion, he's still trying to put some space between them but sometimes he can't and then "John" is being said out loud.
In his head of course, it's impossible to keep his emotional distance, and that's why in his head John will always been John.

He calls him 'John' out loud as early as 1x10 Number Crunch (when he's driving in a panic to rescue Reese), so definitely he thinks of him as John by then. Maybe sometime between then and recommending eggs benedict in 1x05, which is the absolute earliest I could see him being that personal even in his own head.
