I just finished a story, and am now in the rare situation where I actually feel like writing, but have no new WIP to dive into. That almost never happens to me. I usually have way more ideas than time to write them. But right now, while I do have a few ideas for PoI stories, none of them are really fleshed out in my head to the point where I could ( Read more... )

Well, the Porn Battle has oodles of prompts! http://oxoniensis.livejournal.com/526639.html

Sadly, the porn battle prompt style doesn't work for me at at all. I always want to sit the prompter down and be like "You clearly had a scenario in mind when you chose those words - tell me what you wanted!" ;)

i am totally going to think of a Grimm prompt!! So little good (or at least, to my taste) fic out there. Or more PoI. Too hard to choose!!! Will think about it on the way to work.

Well, since this is totally a no-commitment prompts post, you wouldn't necessarily have to narrow it down to just one!

Grimm is such a weird fandom for me. I love the show, but I have little to no interest in reading fic for it, because what I love most about it is the potential of all that unexplored worldbuilding, and all the stuff we don't know about how the Wesen world works.

In all other fandoms, I just want shippy fics about the main characters. But in Grimm, what I really want is, like, casefic full of OCs about the Eisbieber tribe, or something. The history of the Verrat! Stories about people in the, uh, what is that revolution against the Royals called, again? Worldbuilding! Plot! Wacky creatures!

Basically, me and that fandom are way out of tune with each other. ;)

Amnesia fic! There is literally none on AO3 (not tagged anyway), but omg this is the best show ever for that trope. Either Reese: injured and paranoid after getting injured helping a number, and a weird guy in his ear -- or Finch! Can you imagine amnesiac!Finch getting a call from the Machine?

Actually, there's a really long one! Sadly, it didn't do that much for me, although it's not badly written or anything.

Oh man, there so many awesome ways one could do amnesia in this fandom, depending on how much of their memory you wanted to take away.

Reese: injured and paranoid after getting injured helping a number, and a weird guy in his ear

Oh man, yes, that would be awesome. I think for this one, I'd probably let him keep his memories up to about Stanton-era, so he'd already be all fucked up and paranoid and used to not being able to trust people. And now he's in this weird situation he doesn't understand, injured, and the guy he's apparently working for, who may or may not have gotten him almost killed on purpose, is trying to track him down. I mean, can you imagine how terrifying it would be to have Finch trying to track you down when you don't want him to? He has some terrifying surveillance superpowers ( ... )

I actually found that one late last night, to my great delight! You're right, it wasn't very quality, but it hit a lot of the right buttons. I am so easy for this trope. Seriously. I have read some extremely dubious stories in the quest for the perfect amnesia fic. (Chicago's Most Wanted is still in the lead, for the record. It's hard to beat amnesiac Mountie on a crime spree, though ( ... )

I actually thought of one more scenario last night - the one where they both lose their memory, and are forced to draw all the obvious conclusions about their life, like for example the fact that they're dating. (THEY OWN A DOG TOGETHER! Q.E.D.) This would obviously be a shameless rip-off of helenish's Sentinel fic Not Exactly Funny, although in that one, Jim and Blair just forget each other, not their entire lives. (If you like amnesia and haven't read that one yet, DROP EVERYTHING. READ IT NOW ( ... )

Well, the kind of prompt you'd like for Grimm still has to come to me. I am all for the shippy stuff. :) Or you can write anything you like about Renard and how he got to where he is. Invent some backstory!

In the meantime, I now have two amnesia fics for a fandom I don't know/care about. Yay!? Doesn't matter, they'll go onto my list.

I still kind of want to write a huge sprawling epic Grimm fic about the Royals, and how Renard got where he is, and all our main characters teaming up to protect Portland from the Royals, and working together with the revolutionaries, and Juliette and Rosalee opening a Wesen clinic together. I mean, I won't, because it would be 75.000 words long and I've never done anything like that in my life and no one would even read it, but it's a really awesome story inside my head. ;)

I know, Grimm is such a tiny fandom, it almost doesn't deserve epic fic. Although not really. :) I am so obsessed with it, I wouldn't mind writing for a single reader. But then, I never get comments for anything I do, so I do all my fannish things exclusively for myself, which makes the size of the fandom less important.

Oh, by the way, I'll be curious how you like those fics. I don't have a handle on the kind of story you like at all. Sometimes we like the same sort of thing, and then sometimes we'll have radically different tastes, and it confused me. ;)

Also, wait, does that mean you're not familiar with Due South? Because that one is SUCH a fandom classic, and it's great, and I can't imagine you not liking Fraser.
