I keep thinking, I haven't posted in so long, I should post some sort of interesting and comprehensive summary of what happened since my last post, and then the pressure gets too much and I don't post at all. So maybe I need to stop putting this much pressure on myself to Get It Right and just Post Something, Anything instead

Did you get around to watching Rogue One? I quite liked it, but the fandom failed to pull me in and I'm on a Fantastic Beasts kick now, so I ended up losing interest quickly. Star Wars will just never be the fandom of my heart, I guess. It actually felt quite strange to watch a movie from such an important fandom, and which many of my friends care deeply about, and not really have any fannish feelings at all.
Also, I just realized today is Sunday! I've been working the weekend and have four night shifts coming up. Days of the week have lost all meaning. Sigh. How are you doing?

I guess I should.

No, the showing times have drastically worsened since last week. Maybe I'll still catch it, but it's not looking good right now. :/

Yeah, I'm sorry I forgot to ping you since I'm so far behind on stuff that I needed to catch up today. (Still didn't manage...)
If you have time in the evening during the week, let me know. (I'm busy next Sunday.)

Like, the coconut pirates. They really had nothing to do with anything, but they were hilarious and I'm pretty sure they were in the movie because someone said, "You know what would be hilarious? COCONUT PIRATES." And then, unlike what usually happens ("But WHY coconut pirates? Nah, too weird and random,"), they just put them in. And the bizarreness of the underworld. The surprise climax that actually surprised me. The Rock singing! The sting ray. It was all just moving and lovely and I wanted to see it again while I was still watching it the first time.
I also liked Rogue One, but mostly for the final third. I think the characterization needed to be... there more, basically. But it was a really gutsy ( ... )

And yeah, Rogue One could definitely have done with a bit more characterization.

Of all those, I only saw Rogue One, which I loved. The writers took a bold risk with how dark the ending was, which I appreciated even as I was a little crushed.
Tonight, I'll be seeing Hidden Figures with a few friends. Heard amazing things about it, above and beyond "this movie is about the space program" and "this movie will piss off racists," and those two points alone helped sell me.

I'm... wildly mixed. One the one hand, I'm in London(-ish), having a good time, having new experiences, meeting new people. On the other hand, I'm working too many hours because my new employers are insane and it's killing me a tiny bit.
Re: Rogue One, I'm really glad I was spoiled for the ending in advance. (My friends know what I can and can't handle.) Knowing that it was coming, I could appreciate as a gutsy and technically well-done ending. If it had happened with no warning, I'm pretty sure I would've found it crushing and depressing.
How did you find Hidden Figures? I haven't seen it yet, but it's on the list.

How I'm doing? Well, at work, I'm good for how long I've been using needles (less than four years), but there are definitely people who are better at it than me... but I've developed a reputation for being that guy who knows shit. (I had this same reputation at Radio Shack -- it was why they never fired me despite lousy cellphone sales.) Still writing music. Still visiting friends whenever I can carve out time. Mostly, with a few exceptions, life is good. The change in politics in my country scares the shit out of me, though...!
