Well, I already learned about Megaupload from deviantART. In truth, I never heard of the site before and doubt I'd ever use it. But Martin Niemoller knows why I should care.
I used it a few times, usually to download big .zip files of an artist's entire portfolio.
What worries me a lot is that YouTube has the same copyright defect that Megaupload had (lots of valid content, some questionable content, a little blatant copyright violation), so it could be next on the chopping block. No finding of guilt has to be done before the sites are shut down; just suspicion is enough. We could end up like Putin's Russia, where every web site at odds with the current crop of politicians gets axed.
