So I just applied for an editor's assistant position last night, and the editor replied to me almost instantly.  That is very exciting.  However, he wants to see some writing samples "of a journalistic nature".  This here journal is about as journalistic as the nature of my writing gets.  I have essays galore, but I am not sure they would qualify ( Read more... )

Ok, so maybe I am planning a little too far in advance...whatever, I don't care.  Here is what I / we have come up with so far:

• Lots of delicious foodstuffs (pumpkin pasties, chocolate frogs, butter beer, treacle tarts, licorice wands, cauldron cakes, bertie botts, brie in a puff pastry, pumpkin juice,...) Any other ideas?

I have come to the conclusion that, had I been alive in the mid to latter part of the 1800s, I would have very much liked to have married Mark Twain.  His sarcastic wit and his skill in writing alone would have kept me around for many years.

Yesterday, two amazing things happened:

1)  I ate lamb, and I liked it.

2)  My dad agreed to cosign a student loan with me.

Perhaps this is a turning point in my life...

I just got called a babe by our CFO.  A babe...in arms.  He asked me how old I was "today" (as if it were different from...yesterday?) and then said "well, you're a babe.  I mean, a babe in arms.  Well, I mean you are a babe, but also a babe in arms as well...."  Clearly what he was wanting to say was that I was still a youngin'.  Instead, he ( Read more... )
