Brilliant! Oh, now I kind of wish WC had taken place in the old west. That would have been awesome! You always do the best historical AUs :D

*mad blushing* Thank you! I feel like an AU prompt hoarder. *grin*

The mental picture of Neal and Peter all decked out Western style is terribly awesome. :D

... and now I have read it, and it's completely awesome. :D Your character voices are spot-on, and I'm really impressed at how well everything maps over; Peter is a perfect Old West lawman, and Neal's search for Kate fits perfectly, as does the overall dynamic between all of the characters. I adore lawman!Burke, and gambler!Neal, and Peter ruffling Neal's hair and the final scene with the Burkes + Neal, and, oh, everything. :D

I'm so glad you liked it! Despite it taking a while, I definitely enjoyed writing it. The idea was totally brilliant , with the whole cast feeling like they really clicked with the setting.

Now if only I'd found a way to fit Mozzie in. XD

Love the image of Neal as a sharp-dressed gambler in a wild west saloon!

One itty-bitty thing: this should be POST-Civil-war, not "pre". Probably about 1870-1890...

WOuld love to see more of this AU...

Thank you! I'll have to see if any more plot bunnies crop up. ^^

Why do you say post-war, if I may ask? It's not that important to the plot, since I'm not going to complicate things like that (if I do more). But I don't see why a year or two before the war wouldn't make equal sense considering I don't really pin myself down with too many specifics. So I'm just curious. :)

Okay, that all makes sense... I guess I didn't think things through very thoroughly (partly because this isn't really meant to be much more than a stylized Western-ish story). Thanks! ^^
