Man, that pisses me off. You're a lot more even keeled than me. I would have gone out there and administered a large amount of pain on your behalf. Fools are everywhere though.

Just know that your boys at the ridge have your back..... well way way way back... but were back here somewhere ;)

In all honesty, bro, I was incredibly surprised that I did not react violently. It was an odd calm that I can't explain "naturally".

In a little lighter spirit how about Acts 2:15 "These men are not drunk as you say, it is only 9 in the morning!" ... Of course I suppose it would be too much to hope for that perhaps this man of digusting tongue was actually drunken with the Holy Spirit. But that's what I thought of when I read the story ... sorry ...

ignorance comes out in so many avenues. i am amazed that racism and whatnot is still alive. And i think it is because of the very things that you speak of, things like pride ( ... )

It is quite amazing how many hidden prejudices we discover in ourselves when we engage in the conversation of -isms with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

As for -isms being fears...I'm becoming more convinced that fear is the crippling element of human nature. It is the condition (for lack of a better word) that pushes and pulls us in so many directions other than who we really are and who we should be.

I'm also becoming convinced that the only antidote for this condition is love. Pure, unadulterated, unconditional love. Talk about a rare medicine...

I like your observation about relating to Dali. Talk about twisted- sometimes I feel the pride in being involved in missions, and feel so sorry for people who just don't understand and are stuck in their normal boring lives. Sheesh! Praying against pride is a daily endeavor that I well understand.

Ramon, it's uncanny how our reading seems to follow each other so closely. I read YM's "Life of PI" when it was still on the best seller lists not because I knew it was there but because AS mailed it to me in Oman.. how random! I loved certain aspects and hated others but enough of that now. I'm surprised at your experience in Portland. In a similar vein, a classmate of mine said of the last people in New Orleans, "I have no sympathy for them.. they should have left. Why do they think it's their right to receive help? Why should the government help the economically unproductive?" I didn't know where to start with such a loaded statement, I left it.. sometimes you can't answer a fool according to his folly. <-- and there's that pride you mentioned creeping into my statements like the letter 'a'. But more shocking than that was the expression on his face.. he was angry. - JJ.
