i agree completley all i have to say about it all is the support for other countries has declined greatly since bush decided to take on this war of revenge, not oil, not terror, billions and billions of dollars have gone towards its cause
the un is crap
and if anyone really tries to argue with neil about any of it, iam sorry but you;re going to come out looking stupid, he is the most educated about history out of all of us, so listen when he talks about it
the reason for me listening to neil is not because he is arguably the most educated person on history over all of us, it's because over time with neil i have learned he is a very smart person, but more because he is not a close minded person...like a lot of people are.
i'd rather listen to neil than the most educated close minded history professors.
i think this war will come back to haunt us. it;s vietnam II. yes i agree, the terrorist need to be taken care of. but they wouldnt be around if we didnt give them $ years ago. we almost said to them "heres some money, please attack us."
the reason the war will come back to haunt us is strategy. you're right. we did not send enough troops to win and we did not have an effective plan, as far as i can tell. i'm not the biggest expert in the world with this war.
i'm not necessarily embarrassed to be an american, because i don't really think you can stereotype anyone based on their country, i am embarrassed at the political and economical history and present of america. i believe that a lot of the things that made this country the best in the world have dissolved over time.
yea but you can't look back, man. i understand, we'd hook up ANYONE that wasn't a commi. wrong? probably. but we can't change that. just like we can't change the plans over in the Middle East. Personally I think we should bombed some shit twice as hard after 9/11. with the "What now?" kind of mentality. Un-ethical? Immoral? Probably. but 3000 Americans would be alive. and the other thousands wouldn't have to be in an un-organized scheme.
and yea. Americas political history, seemingly worsens and worsens as the years go by. but being an American isn't how strong you support "the right" Political Party. I was talking with Dillon and Henry tonight, and Dillon brought up a great point. Their aren't any REAL Politicians anymore, they are all business men. They look at a situation and say, hmmm, how can i prosper from this war over in the middle east... When a REAL politician would do 0%, or 200%.
I'm a proud American cause i can say, We are the best, we are the strongest, my balls are much bigger than yours, Do. Not. Fuck. With. Us

the only problem with bombing them back worse than they hit us, is that these people are already living in the 2nd century, they're already involved in their own civil war, bombing them isn't going to accomplish much, and attempting to establish a democracy isn't going to do much since america is hardly a democracy anymore, and its too complex to these people
i do agree with america being the john wayne texas cowboy oh the world, and of all the things bush has ever done i do sometime like his don't mess with texas approach to things, but it's not always the answer
Africa: Europe was dipping thier hands into Africa long before America was around, and you know that Neil. America just simply continued doing what thiers before them did, and those before them. Of course it was wrong and they should have kept up thier Revolution by totally stopping doing ANYTHING the Old World was doing, but can you blame them? Slavery was what was being done before they ruled themselves, and they couldn't go getting in a civil war deciding to free all slaves right then and there. You know this too. It was wrong to do as far as slavery goes, but what Washington, Jefferson, and the rest all saw was that slavery was an issue that could not be handled by a newly developed coutnry that was struggleing just to form a goverment. They did what had to be done, swept it under the rug and decided it would have to be dealt with at a later time. Wrong for human rights, obviously, but the move that had to be made for the preservation of America at that time. And the move that had to be made was not making a move. It's obvious

Now I gotta admit I'm not too sure what you mean by American-supported dictators in Afirca, as most of the countries in Africa didn't even gain independence from thier European colonizers until the 60's/70's. And even after then, the European countries that once "owned" them had far more influence over them then America did, despite America being a super power

What few of you may know is that...Abe Lincoln was not so honest.
He didn't want to actually end slavery. He wanted it to stop spreading because he wanted to ship them back to Africa. They would have, but then he was shot in the dome. Not cool (that he got shot).
