Still need to see Fantastic Mr. Fox, and a couple of the Ghibli films you bolded (along with a bunch of those other ones, but those less so for purpose and more for entertainment). I don't know how, but I've still never seen Kiki's Delivery Service or Grave of the Fireflies.
You have to at least see Grave of the Fireflies, particularly if you are going to be a film student ;)
Kiki is wonderful, you'd have to be crazy not to like the film.
Fantastic Mr. Fox is kind of fantastic, but you might not like it if you don't like Wes Andersen's sensibilities, if you liked Royal Tenenbaums you'd probably like it...
Environmentalism: I didn't bold Nausicaa because I felt it was way weaker than the manga which I totally would have bolded. I did put Princess Mononoke in bold because I think its the best environmentalist movie, not overly preachy but conveys the many shades of grey surrounding the issue in a very satifying way

Thanks Jason, you wasted a lot of time in a really fun way ;)
No problem.
Momotaro's Divine Sea Warriors (Momotarō: Umi no Shinpei) (1945) - passed a chance to see this at otakon last year....
I've only found Raws of it on YouTube - you don't happen to know if anyone has subbed it have you?
Yobi, the Five Tailed Fox (2007) - sorry Jay, I didn't like this one as much as you did...
Well I do have a personal bias for the mythology involved - note the user name. =P Also I've noticed that the underworld portrayed in the film matches almost exactly a description I've read of how the underworld & reincarnation are described & function in the Buryat and Mongolian Shamanic traditions which I find fascinating (within the Korean systems I haven't seen much other they a number tend to follow something more akin to Buddhist and Chinese Folk afterlife systems although there are others).
I'm kind of surprised you haven't seen Song of the South.
As for recommendations: The Hunchback of Notre Dame - I haven't seen it myself but a friend
