I offered the rat to Duchess again yesterday. No dice - she wouldn't even come out of the tree. I figured if I was going to keep the critter any longer I had to move it out of the 10 gallon tank so I put him in Duchess' old 20-long today. Now he has two hides, a wheel, and a wooden toy thingie for chewing. Geez. Pretty good for a feeder rat. The

*chuckles* They're great pets. Some take longer to come out of their shells than others do. If it's a male, they tend to be more social and cuddly than females, who prefer to run away and sniff out the whole room they're in. :) If you really want to work with getting him used to you, offer him treats. A happy rat will gladly take a treat from you, right out of your hand, then paw at it for more. ;) If your local pet shop sells yogurt drops for small animals, try those. Mine love 'em.
