Chapter 8:

Jin reappeared in front of him with drinks and food in his hands, he caught the last bit of the younger one’s conversation. “…yea I guess. Thanks…yea, I won’t, bye.”

“Here’s your lunch, careful the drink’s hot,” he said as he placed the meal down in front of the other.

The K nodded his thanks, looking vaguely deep in thought, “hey Jin…”

“Yea?”

“Between Pi and Ryo-chan who do you think…you know…”

The elder blinked, “you mean who…”

He nodded, “yea…”

“Obviously Pi, no?”

Kame blinked, “really? Why?”

The singer blew the steam off the top of his drink, “Well Ryo-chan’s called Ryo-chan for a reason, or at least that’s what I think.”

He paused, “wow, I never thought of it that way…that’s rather…alarming.”

“Why’d you ask?”

“Just…curious…” he mumbled, wincing when he burnt his tongue on his drink.

“Hmmm…? Wanna try my drink?”

He gave a shrug and accepted the other’s cup and took a sip before gagging a bit, “this isn’t a drink, Jin. It’s diabetes in a cup.”

Jin gave a huff and took back his cup, “Fine, be that way, yours is probably super bland.”

“To you maybe…do your taste buds even work anymore?”

“They work…I think.”

There was a long moment of silence between the two as they enjoyed their meals, then the elder of the two looked up, “hey Kame…”

“Hm?” He looked up to face the other, Ryo’s advice still ringing loudly in his mind.

--------------------

“Relive?”

He nodded at the phone despite how the other couldn’t see him, “yea…”

“You mean the whole Jin thing?”

“Yea…”

“You fell in love with him again?”

“Yea…”

“…I guess it can’t be helped, idiots attract.”

He gave a soft laugh at that before repeating himself again, “yea, I suppose that’s true.”

“Well, if that’s the case, I don’t think you should think of it as reliving the past.”

“Hm? What do you mean?”

“Isn’t it more like a second chance?”

Kame blinked, “what? A second chance?”

“You know, try new things, redo old things, find out what went wrong and all that crap. And even if you can’t change the future, isn’t it better to…crap…where was that poster with the cheesy phrase on it…oh, it’s here…you should ‘live for the now’.”

“Are you reading off the poster?”

“Yes I am.”

“You’re amazing, Ryo-chan.”

“I know.”

“…live for the now hm…?”

“Not everyone gets the luck of having a second chance.”

“Yea I guess…”

“Crap, they opened the door, I have to go. Bye…”

“Thanks…”

“…and don’t ever call me while I’m having sex.”

“Yea, I won’t, bye.”

-------------------------

“I’ve been thinking a lot and…”

“And…?”

He paused and tried to stifle his laughter, “you’ve got a foam moustache.”

Kame gave a small laugh and licked it up, “you must’ve spent a lot of time thinking about that.”

Jin shook his head desperately, “No-no-no-no that’s not it! It’s just that, technically the 'me' now is only going to be around for a month right?”

“Uh huh…”

“And then afterwards, it’ll be the 'me' before the accident again.”

“Uh huh…”

“I’m not sure what kind of person I’ve become but…” he turned abruptly when one of the customers dropped their drinks onto the ground with a cry. He turned back and blinked, “damn, I forgot what I was going to say.”

Kazuya’s lips twitched and curled upwards slightly, “are you serious?”

“Okay wait, forget that, but I’m pretty sure the point I was trying to drive at is that I’m not sure about the 'me' after the accident. And I know it’s really rushed, but I think I like you.”

He blinked, “You think you like me?”

Jin didn’t catch the emphasis of the word ‘think’ and nodded, “Yea.”

There was a long pause before he finally decided to reply, “…get back to me when you’re absolutely sure.”

“Huh? What-no! I know I like you, like you-like you, I really do!”

There was a moment as Jin began chewing on his lower lip.

After awhile of contemplating, Kame gave a soft smile, “…well I guess I like you-like you too…”

As expected…in the end, I really can’t say no to you, can I…?

Jin’s face went from deadpanned to confused to surprised to delighted, “seriously?”

Kame nodded, “were you not expecting me to like you back?”

“I have no idea what I expected, but I’m not complaining. I mean, I don’t mean to rush but yea…I’m only here for so long and I wanted to get the fact out there…” he looked up and eagerly added, delight written all over his expression, “I think you just made my week.”

“I’m glad,” he spoke before finishing his drink, “now what?”

“We could go rent a lot of movies so we can do absolutely nothing tomorrow.”

He gave a shrug, “that sounds fine to me.”

“And as for today…”

The singer looked at him expectantly, “yea…?”

“…can we go skydiving?”

-------------------------

They ended up going to the video store and to the studio to visit their friends since Kame outright objected to the idea of skydiving, much to Jin’s disappointment.

But he was pretty happy at the reaction they received when they burst through the door to the practice room. Luckily, they weren’t doing anything serious so the two didn’t get into trouble to disturbing the band.

The A gave a grin, “miss me?”

Nakamaru was the first to recover from his shock, “what are you two doing here?”

“Well you gave us a surprise visit so we’re here to return the favor.”

Kame rolled his eyes, “yea, it was either this or skydiving.”

Ueda nodded in approval of his choice, “it’s nice to know you’re still sane…” then he realized that there was no such thing as a sane person in Johnny’s Entertainment, so he added, “Compared to Jin anyways.”

Maru nodded, “that’s not very hard …oh, we have a photo shoot the day after you start working.”

“Which magazine?”

“Potato.”

Jin held up his hands and gestured for them to stop talking, “wait, before we start getting all professional and idol-like…is it just me, or is it strangely quiet?”

The other three nodded in agreement and looked around, the eldest of the group shrugged, “maybe it’s because you’re not talking loud enough…?”

The A shook his head, “No, that’s not it…it’s more like…a lack of bad jokes and random shouting.”

Again, the three nodded, they looked around and spotted Junno, seated on the couch, playing his latest games. Ueda rolled his eyes, “Taguchi, come over here, we’re discussing professional and idol-like issues right now.”

“Coming…” the tallest of the group muttered as he got up and walked over towards them, eyes never leaving the screen of the device in his hands.

Kame looked at the group, “That explains one thing but the other…”

They, excluding Junno, turned to look at Koki who looked back at them, arms crossed loosely, he gave a shrug, “what? I’m thirsty.”

He glanced at the member who was still too busy gaming to notice him and smirked, the others noticed and took the hint as he raised his hand, “so…who wants to go get everyone drinks?”

The five of them immediately raised their hands, loudly volunteering themselves.

Taguchi looked up, mildly surprised but he slowly raised his hand anyways, “Jaa…I do too…”

The rest of the group nodded and lowered theirs, “Please do.”

“Eh!? Again!?” He gave a defeated sigh and stalked out of the room.

Jin laughed and called after the tallest member, “please and thank you!”

The rapper gave a cheerful smile, “the power of peer pressure. Well, I believe that was very professional and idol-like, don't you?”

The youngest of the group shook his head, “we really should stop doing that…one day.”

The remaining members nodded sympathetically, “yea…one day.”

----------------------

The two stayed around until they finished their drinks and finished discussing in a professional and idol-like manner. Then the working members were ushered back to practice. And Kame couldn’t find it in himself to walk past the broom closet to get to their friends’ practice room.

So they went home.

“I almost can’t wait to go back to work.” Jin announced as they plopped onto the couch.

“Almost?”

“Yea, I’m not that that enthusiastic. But, there are things that make it worth waking up early for.”

Kame raised a brow, “like what?”

“Remember that one time I got to work before you did?”

“Yea…oh…” it wasn’t hard to recall since there were only so many times that Jin arrived before him. “You meant things like that…?”

-------------------------

It was a typical work day morning: he woke up, got ready for work, ate breakfast and headed off to rehearsal. Kazuya yawned and walked down the hallway towards their practice room.

Completely unaware of what was happening inside.

When he opened the door, he was greeted with silence which wasn’t unusual. But suddenly, he heard shuffling. So he poked his head inside…and nearly fainted.

There was Jin, standing there, his fingers tangled in some blond woman’s hair while she was kneeling before him and he was doing amazingly suggestive hip gestures. Kame gaped and contemplated the idea of leaving them be, but the little jealous feeling in the pit of his stomach wouldn’t let him do such a thing.

So he stepped into the room, trying his best to hide how shocked he was, and he failed at doing so when he stuttered on the other’s name, “J-Jin!”

The elder looked up, surprise written all over his features. Then he realized his little predicament and began waving his hands frantically, “It’s not how it looks, Kame! I swear!”

“How it looks…?”

Then the supposed blond woman abruptly got up and turned around which caused her hair to fly onto the ground, “Kame-chan!?”

His eyes widened, “Koki!?”

Jin covered his face with a hand and looked away as the situation grew more awkward, “oh god…”

Kame shot the two elder men a strange look, “what it looks like to me right now is that Koki…is cross-dressing and giving you…” he couldn’t finish the sentence.

Luckily, the two understood what he was driving at and immediately began to protest, their faces quickly turning red, “No! No! No! You’ve got it all wrong!”

“Look!” Jin pointed at his jeans, “It’s up! It’s up!”

That only caused the youngest member to hide his flushed face behind his hands.

Koki frowned and smacked the other on the head, “you’re making it worse!”

“What!? My zipper’s up-oh my god you perverts.”

“That was your fault!”

“How was it my fault!? You’re the one who took it the wrong way!”

“You shouldn’t have said that in the first place! Now Kame’s probably never going to talk to either of us again!”

“You can’t put the blame on me! You’re the one who looked like-”

“Don’t you dare bring that up! That’s your fault too!”

“Me!? Why you bald little…”

By this time, the other members had started arriving only to find that Kame was kneeling on the ground, hands still covering his face, half wanting to cry and half wanting to laugh hysterically.

Maru looked down at the K before turning his attention to the two, “…what’s wrong with Kame?”

Jin and Koki pointed to each other and simultaneously shouted “it’s his fault!” before continuing their argument.

-------------------------

“How am I supposed to forget something as traumatizing as that?”

“Yea, you avoided us for a week, hiding behind Nakamaru whenever we tried to talk to you.”

He huffed and looked down, “Well if you were in my shoes…”

The other laughed and pointed at him, “your ears are turning red.”

“I can’t help it!”

The A gave a grin, “fine, let’s change the topic then. I’m supposed to be making a lot of confessions right?”

Kame blinked, “what? Confessions? Why?”

“Because I’m anesthetic right now, right?”

The younger stared at him with a slightly confuse expression, “…you mean amnesic right?”

He shrugged, “that’s probably it. What did I say?”

“You just called yourself a painkiller.”

“Well I could be that too.”

He thought about telling the other how dumb that sounded but decided against it, “anyways, as you were saying?”

“Right, I mean when you get into an accident and all that, you’re supposed to say things you couldn’t say before. And since I have amnesia, even if I make embarrassing confessions, I won’t remember it when I get better.”

“What kind of confessions?”

“I can’t think of one right now, I’ll tell you when I think of something.”

The K laughed, “You don’t have to. But if it makes you happy, then do whatever you want.”

“Even-”

“Not including skydiving.”

-------------------------

That night, Kame gave a soft smiled as he found himself caught in a snug embrace, facing the other’s torso. He listened to the other’s even breathing and relished the warmth that was offered to him as closed his eyes.

A month. I can enjoy this for a month.

-------------------------

The next day, they did as planned, which was absolutely nothing. They woke up, ate breakfast, and sat on the couch to watch movies. Then they ate lunch and returned to their positions on the couch, mindlessly indulging themselves in the motion picture.

Suddenly, Jin’s cell phone rang, he blinked, paused the movie and picked it up, “Hello?”

“Hey. What’re you guys doing?”

Kame looked over at the other’s confused expression, “Pi? We’re watching movies…shouldn’t you working?”

“Nope, have the day off. Can I come over?”

He glanced at the younger man and pursed his lips a bit, “Yea, I guess…”

“Good, can you open the door now?”

“What? You’re outside!? What if I was out?”

“Then I’d wait for you to get home.”

“What if I said no?”

“Then I’d call Kame and get him to let me in.”

“What if he was out?”

“Then I’d bang on the door until you get annoyed and let me in.”

“What if I don’t get annoyed?”

“Then I’d sit out here until either Kame gets back or until you pity me and let me in…are you not going to let me in?”

“Oh yea, just wait.” He got up, catching the other’s confused stare, he quickly explained, “Pi’s outside waiting to be let in.”

“Oh.”

Within moments, Yamapi was inside and plopped comfortably on the couch beside the youngest of the three. Jin took his seat on Kame’s right and raised a brow, “something’s bothering you.”

The singer looked over and applauded in an impressed manner, “Wow, that’s amazing Jin! You picked up on it right away!”

“So…?”

“How do I say this…” he tightened his lips and rubbed the back of his neck, “am I a terrible person?”

A/N: Wow this is on chapter 8 already! This chapter actually was going to be labeled "It's up! It's up!" but the second chance thing seemed more dramatic :P Yes, and again, it's Pi with the problem because Jin doesn't remember his and Kame doesn't want to share his, and Ryo's too busy with work. This chapter was long! ...er than the other chapters. I really should learn to stop posting at 2 in the morning :P Enjoy!
