Two Teaspoons of Wishful Thinking...

Welp, Tory did some yard work today...on these lawns of ours that have turned into the FRIGGIN' SAVANNA thanks to all the rain we've been getting for the last few weekends. Conquered the front lawn with the weed-eater, but alas! The battery died just in starting the backyard and after an hour of letting the battery charge for it, it's started to ( Read more... )

I think it doesn't really have anything to do with American McGee's Alice...? Someone else has the rights to that one.

Oh, I know it's not really based off it or anything...it just seems to have a similar aspect of Alice returning to a Wonderland that is drastically different and darker than the one she previously knew. XD; Maybe I should've phrased that differently.

Oooh, okay. I see.

It looks a lot lighter and softer than that version, though--I guess that's why I wouldn't really associate them together. (I can't believe I just said something Tim Burton did was "lighter and softer".)

XDDD Haha, yeah, it does sound a bit weird. But you're right, McGee's Alice is a more than a tiny bit...disturbing, and as much as Tim likes darkness in his movies, his darkness has a...whimsicality and charm to it, I guess? I think I'm just seeing Burton's as "darker" as I'm used to Alice in Wonderland films that more follow the path of the Disney film or the 1999 television movie.

I was pleasantly surprised by Alice, though yes, it is misleading to call it Alice in Wonderland. Not one of Depp's best performances, but it was still good. And I had no idea I'd like the Knave of Hearts so much ^^. Or the two Queens, for that matter.

Did you happen to get my e-mail about my vid ideas, dahling?

It does look, at least from the trailers and from several reviews I've read, like the Red Queen does steal the show rather than the Hatter like people would expect. It looks like the Anne Hathaway did marvelously with the White Queen's character, too. What I'm looking forward to seeing is how I'll like Alice's actress, since her character's been sort of overshadowed in the trailers by other characters. XD;

Yes, I did! I'm sorry, my inbox has been kind of flooded lately with a bunch of school bullshit and I've been having to play catch up. DX

Yeah. Her interactions with the other characters, especially the Knave of Hearts, are amazingly wonderful, as is her dialogue. Anne's just got this...aura about her, and it's beautiful. Mia Wasikowska (Alice) was also wonderful and also had a sort of aura about her.

That's okay! I just wanted to ask since I caught you ^^. So, what do you think?

Either or! I'm good with anything at the moment~

:3 Well, let's see...I guess Ahiru would probably be more appropriate as an "Alice" than Rue...unless we wanted to have Mytho fall into Wonderland, which would also be pretty darn funny. Either way I can see Fakir as the Mad Hatter and Rue as the Red Queen. XDD

Now, I've read the Looking Glass Wars series, and when I saw the trailer I couldn't help but think, "Oooo Frank Bedder's gonna be pissed. I think he was hoping for a movie deal. XD"

Here's the web site. The author had some music inspired by the books written, and the songs are mighty fine. :3

Check them out!

(Also, have I been the only one to notice the influx of Alice in Wonderland inspired manga? Pandora Hearts, Alice Unlimited Wonderland, Are You Alice?, Heart No Kuni No Alice, the list goes on! :o)

*darts to check out*

I guess Alice in Wonderland is just one of those stories that is very easy to adapt? Plus the idea of a cute little schoolgirl in a bizarre world with talking animals, possible-bishonens and none of the normal status quo and laws of the real world? Isn't that sort of like a dream come true for manga authors? XDDD
