It's very, very rare that anything can jump the species barrier. [oddly enough, cold viruses are one of the few that do it often]. So it's perhaps not that surprising they have that policy, as the chances of cross-species infection that way is vanishingly small.

Reminds me, I need to find a replacement heating pad for our elderly cat, she had a little 'accident' after sneezing too hard and it shorted out. [possibly something to aware of with yours, they are not 'spill' proof usually.]

Yeah, there aren't that many zoonosis, but I figured I'd err on the side of extreme caution. =)
