I have always loved it. And probably always will.
Why do I bring this up?
My sister turned on the TV and saw a figure skater and was all "KRISTI YAMAGUCHI .lakjdkahnfslkJHLKSJHDFKJSHGKJS LOVE!!!!"
And I'm totally psyched for the Olympics
Winter 2010 is coming up fast
Surprisingly, I've heard very little about the upcoming olympics
BUT figure skating
I actually look forward to the men's skating more and more
They end up doing more exciting routines, what with the quads and backflips, what isn't to love?
Although I can't say I dislike women's skating. It's gorgeous and more about grace than the men's competition.
In elementary school, one of my idols was Michelle Kwan. She has a book, The Winning Attitude, that I checked out countless times from my school library. I religiously followed her for years. I mean sure, after the 2002 winter Olympics I fell in love with Timothy Goebel. (hello? QUAD KING!!!!!) His routines regularly incorporate hydroblading (which FASCINATES ME). Sadly, both Kwan and Goebel have since retired. So I kind of will be a little lost on who is who . . . OH SARAH HUGHES! OMG! I LOVED THAT LITTLE CHICK! She totally came up from the back and took the gold medal . . . AND SHE WAS 16!
So many things I could go on about . . .
but overall
LOVE FIGURE SKATING!!!!!!
actually, lately, I've been getting free time and spending it watching old performances by various skaters on youtube. Elvis Stojko anyone?
So, does anyone have any favourite skaters? Favourite routines that they remember? Skating idols? Anything? Or am I the only one who is crazy enough to care? XD
