sadly, i know.... i've always been frank with the fact that i don't like bush's views on social issues, but i'm not much of a republican when it comes to that kind of stuff.
Keep in mind that the federal government cannot take the sanctity of marriage away from the states. Thus, the issue of gay marriage is implicitly within the domain of the states. To move it from the states to the federal government, a constitutional amendment was proposed.
The very process of ratifying an amendment to the constitution involves the support of 3/4ths of the states of this union. As such, the issue of gay marriage is much like the issue of abortion, much talk, little action.
Why?
Because there's not much action which can be accomplished in the first place.
Leave it to the states I say, as that's where it currently belongs and is.
