RIP Punty

You were a good little hamster, even though I only knew you briefly. And I forgive you for the time you bit me and drew blood. We'll never forget your squeaky wheel, or your passion for running full-speed into things while in your hamster ball.

aww, my condolences. He reminds me of my own hamster when I was little, Charlie. He also drew blood several times :-p They're both up in hamster heaven now, or the equivalent. ^_^

We're not sure. Ginger found her Wednesday, curled up in her cheese-home, stiff. She had food and water, so that wasn't the problem. I think she may have eaten too much of her home at once - she had just started to shred it. Then again, I've had multiple people tell me that sometimes pet stores get them old, and they only live two years, so it could have just been age.

We buried her today.

:( Poor sweet little blood-happy hamster. At least it sounds like his last meal was good. Do you think you'll get another one after a while?

I might... the main problem with that is unless I can convince my mother to let me bring one home for the summer, I wouldn't want to do it. I don't want to throw the responsibility on anyone else unless I absolutely have to.

I have to discuss the possibility of adopting Ginger's people-friendly rabbit with my mom, too, as an alternative to another hammy. He's so sweet and active and snuggly and YAY!

I think a dog is the way to go. My experience with dog ownership has been extremely satisfying. Get one of these, http://www.thepetprofessor.com/breed_profiles/dogs/caucasian_mountain_dog.aspx , your mom won't be able to say no when you show up at home with one.

I know you think a dog is the way to go ;)

However, I called her the other day and she went through the reasons dogs are difficult, and said the pup would be lonely, and that cats might piss on the walls, and rabbits will turn on you, etc. etc. due to her own shitty experiences... but ended the lecture with "but ferrets... you loved Pippi, and they're so intelligent, and they don't mind sleeping all day when you can't be around."

So while she states she prefers I wait until next semester, or even get out of this "need" for a pet, a ferret is something she would allow me to bring home. If you're bored Dave, let's go to Petco at the waterfront this weekend and see their ferrets! Last time I saw them, they were older, barely even kits anymore... which is bad. But, I'd like to look.

Ooooh, Green, I am so sorry Punty died.
At least we gave her a proper burial, though.
